In The Past: Honeybee
During my final year at the studio, in addition to keeping up with my photography work I decided to breathe life into another passion, art with children.
I wanted to make a safe nest for artistic expressions and exploration; a place which nurtured creative energy and offered it a space to unfold. I have always had a love for experiencing art with my children and Red Deer was sorely missing a creative space where families could make art together. Since the first day we opened Honeybee, the art studio was alive with children and adults alike making a most beautiful, artful mess! We offered watercolor painting, hand-stitching, botanical creations and an array of unique rotating projects for kids of many ages.
In the end, newly pregnant with my fourth daughter and major family changes on the horizon, the time to say farewell to the studio was clear. I do sometimes dream of opening Honeybee again in the future, but only time and interest will tell.
