In The Past: Mentoring

Since 2010 when I taught my first series of hands-on newborn workshops in Australia,  I have been mentoring photographers one-on-one, hosting group Q&A sessions and tirelessly lending my voice to newborn safety awareness in the industry.

In May of 2011, I released the first chapter of my mentoring guide called "NEWBORN chapter one | the basics". The first in an ongoing series of video and written word for photographers, the mentor guide explored my personal approach to capturing the wonder of newborn babies. NEWBORN was an exploration of the basics of what I do and why I do it. I wanted to offer a piece of my story, style and heart to guide and encourage others to find their own path. The written portion was instantly accessed online, however, chapter one also included a printed hand crafted guide book that I personally trimmed, bound, packaged and shipped out around the world.

A second chapter was released within the following year, including new videos, discussed many topics and answered questions submitted by photographers. Included in chapter two was another handmade element; a small hand stitched linen heart filled with lavender. It was a way to connect my hands with those of the creatives who purchased my guide.

The mentoring guide was received beautifully for many years and I was ever grateful for the abundance of kindness and love that was offered. As all good things have their end, NEWBORN is officially no longer available to purchase. If it feels right, I may choose to create a new and updated mentoring guide in the future. An evolved version that better reflects my present style and vision.
