To Begin Again and Again

My name is Ashley Logan (formerly Ashley Skjaveland). I am a photographer specializing in newborns, babies and mama’s to be, based in Lacombe, AB. As a photographer I used to be heavily involved in the online photo community, making friends, teaching and sharing my work on the regular. After a series of monumental personal events, life changed for me and I withdrew from any and all spotlights. I wanted to hide and cocoon with my children, taking care of the life that was crumbling in my hands. I took a sabbatical from commissioned client work and avoided social media like the plague. I have avoided both friends and family as well as the general population. The funny thing about me, I will either be silent and say nothing or I will tell you everything. There doesn’t seem to be a middle ground. Since I wasn’t ready to talk about or face the journey that I have been on, I remained silent. The healing process is still in progress but I’m showing up now. I’m ready to begin.
I’m not sure how all this will go exactly since blogging and social media aren’t my strong suit. I go through dry spells where I need to be quiet and cocoon instead of being social (online and offline). My spell check fails me repeatedly and I struggle to find the line for how much personal life to actually share with the masses. I hope you all can hold on with me while I find my way. I am simply a small and very real human who wants to create beautiful things for others. I am who I am in all my multitudes and seasons. Sometimes that means poetry and art, sometimes motorcycle shenanigans and shower beers. I’m all about balance. I have come to realize that clients and friends will love me for that. Or not. Either is fine.
